But don't you think that's just as big a problem? You didn't have to derail your point, I mean even a passing mention would have been fine. You write an amazing column and it feels like you could have brought attention to that really disgusting, equally problematic issue as well.
It just didn’t enter into my mind. I went into the column with the intent on writing about women and The Avengers film. I was just focused on that.

"no non-white Avengers in the film"... So Sam Jackson as Nick Fury, the BAMF who's running the whole show, doesn't count? No pleasing some people, I guess...

I just read your piece on the Avengers, but I have to say, why didn't you mention that there were also no non-white Avengers in the film? Even in passing? Even in your list of lady Avengers you'd like to see in future films, you didn't mention any of the WOC Avengers or heroes. I'd have to say that the fact that the Avengers were entirely white is just as problematic as the fact that they were mostly male.
I didn’t mention it because that wasn’t what I was writing about. But I don’t disagree with you, it would be great to see more POC next time too.

Finally got to see The Avengers on Saturday and I really enjoyed it. Very fun although I think it could have used a trim of about 10 minutes. I took both my kids they both loved it (It is now my daughter’s third favorite movie and numbers 1 and 2 are Harry Potter movies so high props there.)
